Outside the heavily fortified compounds at Aden Adde airport, Somalia’s capital is one of the most dangerous places in the world, off limits to most foreigners and a risky place for Somali government officials. En route to document life on Liido Beach, Mogadishu, our car took to the back streets as a precaution, avoiding the congested roads.

The threat from Al Shabaab is real and unpredicatble.
